Well, it not *that* bad:

 spanning-tree mst configuration
  name WHATEVER
  revision 1
  instance 1 vlan 1 - 1000 , 2001 - 3000
  instance 2 vlan 1001 - 2000 , 3001 - 4094
 spanning-tree mode mst

Just wait until you start rolling out QoS and need configs like:
