The DFC has its own flow cache, that's certainly true.

Depends what you or your software means by "independently". The flow 
records all come from the same source IP and port, but the flow sequence 
numbers did not appear to be synced at least between software and DFC 
flows on our box. One assumes the sequences numbers are not synced 
between DFCs either. nfdump and nfsen don't seem to care however.
