[c-nsp] Flex Links and STP

Hi,
 
When designing a Data Centre for access-layer resiliency, Cisco
SRND/Design docs seem to favour STP if you choose Layer2 access and make
no mention of Flex Links.
 
According to 12.2SX documentation, Flex Links provide resiliency also
but without requirement for STP.
 
Has anyone experience of using them and are there any other advantages
to using them?
