Well, the feature set for 12.3 mainline is frozen for years now, and
object tracking  for SAA and tracked static routes are rather new.

Try 12.4 mainline. AFAIR the feature was introduced somewhere in 12.3T,
so it should be in 12.4. If you don't like the idea of bumping your core
routing systems to such a new OS and rather want to stay with the well-
known stable ones, you're in the same pit like me - can't use this feature
anywhere but on less relevant customer CPE boxen.

I came to rather use a hack including a keepalive enabled GRE tunnel,
the "backup interface" idiom and non-intuitively used floating static
routes as a replacement that works way better.
