as soon as you redistribute anything into OSPF (i.e. the router
originates Type5/7 External LSAs), the router becomes an ASBR.

Hmm, no. The Inter-Area-Router-LSA (Type 4 LSA in IPv4) is originated by
ABRs to tell routers in other areas about the ASBR.
