We are a service provider and have been running 12.2.25.Sx trains and tried
SB and have run in to performance issues (Mainly input queue problems when
BGP is enabled). We have also tried Enterprise 12.3.18 and ran in to a PBR
problem when BGP was enabled. (Open unresolved TAC Case on that).
Our environment is Mostly 7200VXR's (Either NPE400, 512MB or NPE300, 256MB
w/ IO FE) using primarily PA-MC-T3, PA-A3-T3, PA-FE-TX, PA-T3,
PA-POS-OC3SMI, PA-A3-8T1IMA
Features enabled are IPv4 (no IPv6 yet), RBE, BGP (with prefix-list,
route-maps), PBR, MPLS VPN, MLPPP, ISL / 802.1q VLAN, QoS (NBAR -
policy/class-map), RADIUS Auth, SNMP read enabled and traps to our NMS
I confirmed with IOS Planner that 12.3.19 includes the features I require.
I scanned through the release notes, deferal notices, bugs, etc for 12.3.19
and there seem to be several 7200 issue still outstanding. I am looking for
suggestions from users with similar environments on stable code for the 7200
platform. Obviously the NPE 300 with BGP enabled have some memory
restrictions, but I can reduce the BGP table size on most of them if
necessary.
Off-list comments welcome.
Thanks
Eric
