[c-nsp] OT: Proxy server that can insert content

  Sounds like something you could do with squid, and using an external
redirector program. I use a setup like this to run an ad-filtering proxy
(Squid + addzapper.sourceforge.net/wrapzap, zapchain, squirm), so I
imagine it wouldn't be difficult to write one in $scripting_language to
output a page every x connections per originating IP.

Since it's going to see the URL (and should know about referrer, etc),
you could conceivably also generate your announcements with a link to
wherever the user had been headed before you hijacked them.

Besides, you want to use squid anyway, so once you have that going you
are halfway there.
