12.4(7a) definitely contains the fixes as described in the bug you
mentioned above. As you've seen the Release Note is scant on details.
Suffice to say, the problem fixed in that particular bug was a situation
where a packet was ingressed that had a bad length and the size of that
packet in memory was exactly one particle buffer. In that particular
situation, some additional checks were erroneously bypassed (like the check
for length and alignment) causing the controller to be reset when the
actual length of the packet did not match the reported size of the packet.
That particular mac_status setting is only an indicator that a particular
bit of a particular register is set. The setting of that bit can occur in
multiple situations. It may be that you are encountering a different
scenario than the one fixed in the bug you cited that results in that
register being set and the error message resulting.
I've found other bugs with similar error messages to yours, but none seem
to fix your hardware/software combination. You should probably open a case
with the TAC to investigate the cause.
