Well if you weren't running STP for one VLAN, there was probably infinite
broadcast loop in that VLAN (yay for rbridges!)
If your switches only support PVST and you have strictly ring topology, you
can live bit longer with your network, if you configure at least
one switch to run STP for the VLAN.
eg. in topology:
A-B-C-A
A = VLAN 1-65
B = VLAN 66-130
C = VLAN 131-195
Very ugly, very hack, but might save you from rather large investment.
