I can feel you :) Been there - done that, in the beginning (Oh, My Gosh kind 
of ...) - but in the end, w/the yearly maintenance coming short of 1/10th of 
the salary of the lowest paid network guy, for monitoring tons of devices and 
sites, adds, moves and changes w/minimal effort (try to keep up with the QoS 
changes you need to make in Cisco devices, in your MRTG configs!) ... oh, 
well, it was simply a matter of ROI :)
