Part of the Cisco strategy of confusing the customer as much as
possible. That's why you have

- 3750 and 3750 Metro being two completely different hw platforms,
  even if the names are similar
- 3560 and 3750 being mostly the same hw platform, modulo stacking,
  even if the names are differrnt
- 3560 and 3550 again being different hw platforms
and for an earlier example,
- 2948 and 2948G-L3 having basically nothing in common

I see no reason to believe this is going to change any time soon.
