I think Mike is correct here.
Even though this is "c"-nsp, I think it's clear that "c" isn't tendering
the sort of boxes that will ultimately suite David's needs. So, I'm
going to commit perhaps a c-nsp faux-paux and recommend that for cheap,
somewhat dense l2 p/pe/ce box that you check out WWP (worldwide
packets). We've tested a few of their "lightning edge" sfp boxes
specifically for features unrelated to mpls or vpls (I was looking at
queuing and shaping), and I was pleasantly surprised. Also, _real_,
_working_ shaped queues; finally, we've been lifted out of the
"c"-morass of crude policing, rate-limiting, and car!
I almost couldn't believe it. Also, l2/l3/l4 marking (for cos/dscp/etc
mappings), 8 output queues, multiple thresholds per, working QinQ with
inner and outer tag marking/matching for said qos features, non-broken
jumbo support (at 10/100/1000 even), and other niceties that (also
surprisingly) I cannot find on any similar (i.e. cheap 1u pe/ce switch)
cisco box.
