[c-nsp] HP/Cisco Spanning Tree

Not for these guys.  Some are nine years old :-)

But to answer my own question, the trick was to force the swicth to use
MST instead of PVST

    spanning-tree mode mst

The 802.1D compatibly mode is only available on VLANS with MST
