After some further workings on this, it does look like the 7301 with an interface MTU of 1900 is generating larger packets than the 
interface MTU on the NPE-G1 (1500). For some reason I am still to be able to recreate this in a labbed environment, but the issue is 
reproduceable on the kit in place.

Is their anyway to limit the size of routing packet in EIGRP?
