I've had good experiences with BFD in 12.2(33)SRA, using aggressive  
timers (50/25/3) on 10gig interfaces - BFD hasn't missed a beat yet.   
I didn't have a lot of experience with it under 12.2(18)SXF, so can't  
compare performance there.
