Thanks.. yes, that's correct (interface names).... I'll do some bug hunting
and go from there... just wanted to make sure it wasn't something obvious I
didn't know about..;)

but you have FastEthernet7/1 and GigabitEthernet5/0 (for example) in your
chassis, I reckon?

The problem could be that the logging messages are issued by the LC CPU (as
shown via the "SLOT <n>" prefix), and the IOS on the LC CPU apparently uses
the locally significant interface name (without the slot
argument) in the logging output.. looks like a bug.
