[c-nsp] Etherchannel or STP

Hi,

After some pondering, I have been thinking about what would be the best
way of using my uplinks from the wiring closets to the datacenter. The
uplinks are Layer2 (3750), all of L3 is done at the core (4507R)

In a typical scenario, we have link1 and link2, link2 is blocked via
STP, in case link1 goes down, STP goes to work and link2 becomes
operational and everything is good in the land.

I can't help but wonder if I'm just wasting a perfectly good uplink
here, wouldn't be better to just do an etherchannel with the two
cables?. Anyone has this sort of thing on a production network?
pros/cons? terrible things I should be aware of?

Kind Regards,
