Anyway to do a variable based on time so it doesn't constantly overwrite
itself? I'd love a 200707041530 in the filename.

We successfully use the archive command (on 12.4.x IOS):

archive
path tftp://<ip-of-your-tftp-server>/$h
write-memory
time-period 1440
</code>
This command enables auto-archivement of your configuration
within a time period (1440 = minutes, means all 24 hours) to
a pre-configured path (path to local flash: is also available but we prefer
an
external copy). That's it!
