He's asking about 802.1x for authentication. Not layer 2 trunking protocols.

It supports both ISL and dot1q:

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
 description Trunk to XXX
 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
 switchport mode trunk

(confi)#switchport trunk encapsulation ?
  dot1q  Interface uses only 802.1q trunking encapsulation when trunking
  isl    Interface uses only ISL trunking encapsulation when trunking
