We use syslog-ng from http://www.balabit.com/products/syslog-ng/ for  
our remote logging (routers and servers). This syslog daemon is  
pretty easy to configure and really flexible when it comes to message  
filtering and sorting messages into different files (based on various  
criteria). You can easily pipe received messages into your own  
scripts or trigger any events you need.
