Howdy,

Does anyone know of something similar to this that would be achievable
on an mpls xconnect between a 6509 and 7300?

The scenario is 2 seperate switch worlds at the end of each xconnect
which are linked together(via xconnect) to provide a complete L2 path
end to end for 2 ASA's that are running in Active/Standby

It looks a little like this(missing switches etc. of course):

|6509|--MPLS--|7300|
        | |
        | |
|ASA1| |ASA2|

Problem: Today a spanning tree loop(flood) at the 6509 end switchworld
made its way through the xconnect and affected all traffic going to the
ASA2, causing an outage for the currently active ASA2.

I found an article
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1829/products_feature_guide09186a008021bbb4.html

Which lists the ability to do an l2transport stp drop, however only
available on 12000 series by the look of it, does anyone have any
suggestions as to a good way to control this sort of thing from
happening again? I was thinking about storm control but would like to
get some input from others.

Cheers

Ben
