I've had to do it a few times in production and have done it plenty of
times in the lab. Routing doesn't get upset. Different story if you're
running something that uses the flash (say, CME with all the fruit.)
Things might get slightly unpredictable if they can't TFTP what they
want off the flash.

That things stop working just like the warning printed near the CF slot implies?
Schedule an outage window, ship a replacement flash card -and- a replacement
replacement flash card, etc.
