Changing the mode will delete the vlan database off the switch.
* I don't think I've met a network admin yet who is a fan of VTP :)

Subject: [c-nsp] Removing VTP Server switch
Hey Guys,
Here is a question that I guess I should really know the answer to, but
like
many network admins, I am a big fan of VTP.
I have a Fixed Wireless network (in a remote part of the country to
where I
am), and we are about to take down a few of the unnecessary towers. Each
tower has a Cat 2900XL installed, running VTP across all sites.
Unfortunately the first site to be removed is the site that the only VTP
Server in the network.
I guess my question is, can I simply change every switch to
"transparent"
mode, and all will will operate happly, or will I need to make another
switch set to server mode? I am more than happy to live without VTP in
this
part of the network.
Regards,
Kurt Bales
