My understanding is that you run Linux on an x86 device connected to
your switch/router backplane. The NAM is a good example of an existing
Cisco product that fits this model.
Of course, Linux could probably run natively on the CPUs of most Cisco
hardware, but I've not heard of anyone trying it :-)
