Thanks for the quick response...
With 6500's in the "middle" between the GSR and the 7200's, will layer2
connectivity function as normal with MPLS? To explain, if I want to use the
GSR as the P router and 7206VXR as PE but have layer2 trunks in between
these devices (6500's) is there anything that won't function in MPLS? Sorry
if this seems like a basic question...

Sup2 can't do any label operations (swap/push/pop), so this rules Sup2
out (you would need OSM or Flexwans). GSRs/E0 and 7200 do MPLS just fine
with similar performance as regular IP.

You want to look into Sup720 or Sup32 for the 6500s, but using 7200 or
GSRs is fine.
