I speak for the NPE-G2, Rodney sent some load vs pps number across
GigE in april 2007, if you make a x-y plot out of it, you will see
something interesting:

the plot is not a straight, linear line, but a piecewise linear of 2
segments, with a corner at ~ 100'000 pps: from 0 to 100'000 pps it's
a relatively steep slope, reaching ~40-45% CPU, and from then to 1.5Mpps,
it's a much smoother slope.

On GigE at least. It seems another stories on serial/POS, eating much more
CPU.

Don not know about the -G1 or 7301.
