Replying to my own post, for the sake of the archive. Thanks to everyone 
who replied to me directly.

The key thing I was missing is that "10/100 interface" in the above 
really *means* 10/100 interface, and not 1000baseT running at 100mbit/s. 
So on a 3750G there aren't any 10/100 interfaces. Problem gone away.
