I have successfully configured RT as both ASN:number (where ASN was 
presumed to be 16bit and number was 32bit (as per RT standards)) and as 
IP:number (where IP was 32 bits and number was 16 bit), so that much 
should work anyway.

I've also run into trouble where RT was configured as IP:number and the 
number was higher than 16 bit would tolerate, so I know for a fact this is 
troublesome on at least one platform.
