I use a Digi EdgePort/4 and it just works with any modern Linux I've tried.  
Port 1 comes up as /dev/ttyUSB0; Port 2 comes up as /dev/ttyUSB1, and so on.  
Permissions have occasionally been an issue, at least on Ubuntu 8.10, though.
