NTPv2. This is what I see in a router with "debug ntp packet detail"
configured with "ntp master 2":

Dec 15 20:21:55.694: NTP message received from 10.10.10.254 on interface
'FastEthernet0/0' (10.10.10.1):
Dec 15 20:21:55.694:
 NTP Header:
   Leap = 00, Version = 2, Mode = 3,
   Stratum = 3,
   Poll Interval = 6,
   Precision = -20,
   Root Delay = 0.28,
   Root Dispersion = 0.742,
   refid = 10.10.10.1,
   Last update reftime = 3501433252.2768737782,
   Originated time = 3501433313.2990220735,
   Received time = 3501433313.2992084671,
   Transmit time = 3501433315.2995658084.
 Hexadecimal equivalent (length = 48):
   0000: 13 03 06 EC 00 00 00 1C
   0008: 00 00 02 E6 0A 0A 0A 01
   0010: D0 B3 A1 A4 A5 07 95 F6
   0018: D0 B3 A1 E1 B2 3B 25 BF
   0020: D0 B3 A1 E1 B2 57 96 BF
   0028: D0 B3 A1 E3 B2 8E 1D 64

The 10.10.10.254 is the ACE. The version = 2 field must mean NTPv2. I see
that field = 4 with a router as a client.

ntp stratum 2 or ntp version 2? I hope ntp version 4, as that's the
current version as of 2004. ntp version 2 dates back to 1989.

NTP stratum 2 is completely different.
