A few years back the company I was working for DHCP'd a customer the IP address 66.something.something.0. After a few days running with the address the customer called in to customer service to complain about the "illegal" IP address we had given him. When asked if his service was working, he said yes, it was fine. Then no problem, it's a perfectly legit addres, have a good day, thanks for calling.

A few hours later his lawyer daddy called, threatening to sue the company for the "illegal" address. After half an hour on the phone with the dad, we removed the address from the pool, got the customer to reboot (ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew were too hard for them to understand), and confirmed that they were satisfied that they now had a "legal" address. Then we put the address back into the pool and never heard another complaint.
