Cisco does not seem to actually care/respond to these sorts of configurability issues in IOS.

Good luck getting TAC to open a case on those types of issues, and be prepared to wait 6-12 months for any fix.

The message from cisco:? Go away, if there's a workaround that's your FINAL solution.
