i can't speak for other platforms but those that run NX-OS have supported /31 on ethernet point-to-point interfaces from day one and it IS officially supported.

ltd-n7010-1(config-if)# int eth1/2
ltd-n7010-1(config-if)# ip address 2.1.1.1/31
ltd-n7010-1(config-if)#
