Hello,
i have recently created new vlan on my Cisco 6509 core switch. but the newly
created vlan was not learned by other switches in the network. i found out that
the vtp domain name is different. the supervisor engine on the 6509 is brought
from another network with different vtp domain name. the IOS version is Version
12.1(8a)E5. when i try to change the vtp domain name to the right one, even i
don't have the option to set from the command line. from the global
configuration mode, i only have the following option that i can not change the
mode, password, mgt domain.
MEKENDCS01(config)#vtp ?
file Configure IFS filesystem file where VTP configuration is stored.
if-id Configure interface as the preferred source for the VTP IP updater
address.
again the option to create vlan from global configuration mode is not available.
i can only create vlans from vlan database.
MEKENDCS01(config)#vlan ?
mapping Configure .1q/ISL VLAN mappings
vtp status is as follows.
MEKENDCS01#sh vtp statu
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 16
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs : 35
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name : adih
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Enabled
VTP Traps Generation : Enabled
MD5 digest : 0x46 0x86 0xAB 0xB8 0x89 0xF7 0x6F 0x0A
Configuration last modified by 10.128.1.2 at 4-1-11 06:20:45
Local updater ID is 10.128.1.2 on interface Vl1 (lowest numbered VLAN interface
found)
i appreciate Any help on how to fix this problem.
thanks in advance
