My advice as an ex-cisco guy to you all would be to forget about
documentation, marketing, TMEs or consultants.

Instead get the router/switch and test it with the release you plan to use.

Each BU have bunch of routers/switches which they do ship left and right
to customers to try before you buy. To play with bigger boxes there are
number of POC labs around the world. Just schedule a time and setup of
your choice will be there waiting for you to play.

For control plane features it is even easier .. you could use 7200
emulation to run real IOS image on or get some slice of time to play
with iou/iol via official cisco offering below:
