It's been a long time... But a spectrum analyzer with a directional antenna is really cool to use for this...

Or some sort of frequency hopping spread spectrum arrangement but that assumes your jammer isn't wacking the whole spectrum.
I haven't been on a ham radio fox hunt in years, they are a blast, right up there with field day.
