I've just tried with 12.2(33)SRE2 on an NPE-400, it seems to work fine.
Make sure that you are not trying to run a PowerPC image (c7200p)
on a MIPS platform or vice-versa.

BTW, 256 Mb of RAM is enough to run this image, and NPE-400
will not accept more than 512 Mb anyway.
