There is the 3750/3750G/3750E which can stack / multi-chassis, and you
can add 3750X IPBase/IPServices to that mix.

There is the 3750X LAN Base version which can't be upgraded nor stacked
with anything other than other 3750Xs (been there, tried that).

And there are the 2960Ss, which can only be stacked with themselves as well.

And the 3560s (all flavors) which continue to not offer stacking at all.

I suspect there are a lot more marketing reasons than technical ones for
those restrictions :)
