[c-nsp] Weird CPE Configuration Bug with Rancid

Hey everybody,
On a customers CPE which has ADSL lines, I get the following rancid
update sometimes every other day, sometimes a few times a day;
!Interface: Serial0/1/0, GT96K
- ! DTE Unknown (13) clocks stopped.
+ ! DTE Unknown (13) RX clock detected.
This CPE has an Ethernet leased line and 2 WIC-1ADSLs for backup only,
there are no other cards like WIC-1/2T's in it. "show ip int br",
"show inventory", "show interfaces" all agree. However I have found
the following:
show controllers | b Serial0/1/0
interface Serial0/1/0
Hardware is GT96K
DTE Unknown (13) RX clock detected.
idb at 0x636DBD2C, driver data structure at 0x636E3448
wic_info 0x636E3A4C
Physical Port 1, SCC Num 1
Further down I see that there are multiple Serial interfaces, 0/0/0,
0/0/1 and 0/1/0. I would guess these perhaps relate to the ATM
interfaces somehow. Serial0/0/0 has the same number of output packets
as atm0/0/0 (although no input packets?).
Will a ropey old guess at best, that seems to much of a coincidence to
me. Is anyone here more knowledgeable than I able to confirm if this
is the true? What I'm trying to do is ultimately find out why rancid
keeps seeing the configuration differences on the CPE and email them
to me as the serial interaces aren't real, how are they changing?
Looking through "show logging" I find nothing around the times I get
the config updates.
Thanks for your time everyone.
James.
