If you're looking at something that's small and port-dense,
you'll likely be looking at a Metro-E switch.
The ME3750 is now EoS, but if you need a couple you may be
able to still find some on the market. Just watch out for
features - at heart, the ME3750 is still a Catalyst switch,
so router functions like QoS are complicated at best. The
lack of Jumbo frames or Gig-E ports facing customers is
loud.
This is where the new ME3600X/3800X shines. It's a switch,
but really works like a Cisco router. The chassis is cheap,
but MPLS and 10Gbps licenses make it pricey (unless you can
score some discounts).
If all these are still too big, other folks have already
provided options in the smaller router space.
Cheers,
Mark.
