A lot less painful on asr9k than on crs*. The 9k just take ages but don't
tend to end being the marathon sessions that seem to be the norm for the
CRS platform.
Another important point on IOS-XE is that Cisco are planning to create much
shorter software support cycles than previously which means that you really
need to keep up to date with software releases if you want to avail of TAC
support for problem tickets. Conversely, the support costs for XE devices
is substantially lower.
