You're unlikely to see 600 Mb/s through a PA-GE, as other posters have
mentioned. 600 Mb/s would completely saturate whichever PCI bus in which
the PA-GE is installed.

It's important to remember that the 7200 series was never built to do
near-wire-speed forwarding on all of its ports. It's possible to get
closer, if you use the built-in gig-e ports on an NPE-G2, but you're out
of luck with a PA-GE. The 7200 series, if you count the original non-VXR
chassis, has been around for roughly 15 years, and the VXRs have been
around almost as long.

They were built more to be very versatile. Given that it's a
software-forwarding platform and the wide variety of interfaces and
modules that are available for it, it's succeeded very well in that role.

If wire-speed forwarding of traffic is important to you, you will be
better served in the long run to look at a newer router platform.
