[c-nsp] Unsupported SFP on Cisco 2960

Hello Folks,

I have a peculiar problem. I have followed postings in the forum and I
believe your experience with Cisco networks will help answer my question.

I have a Cisco 2960 with Gigabit SFP module. I connected a third party
addon SFP GBIC to 2960 switch and I get the following error that disables
the interface.

*Mar 16 21:05:15.720: %GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in
port Gi0/2 has bad crc
*Mar 16 21:05:15.720: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on
Gi0/2, putting Gi0/2 in err-disable state

After checking online I found these two command lines that corrects the
error
on the Cisco 2960 switch and brings the interface up.

1) no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
2) service unsupported-transceiver

Cisco 2960 switch however reported a warning on entering the second command:

"Warning: When Cisco determines that a fault or defect can be traced to
the use of third-party transceivers installed by a customer or reseller,
then, at Cisco's discretion, Cisco may withhold support under warranty or
a Cisco support program. In the course of providing support for a Cisco
networking product Cisco may require that the end user install Cisco
transceivers if Cisco determines that removing third-party parts will
assist Cisco in diagnosing the cause of a support issue."

I understand Cisco's warranty terms mentioned in the above Warning.

My worry is, is it safe to do this. Is it likely I will have problems in
future
with the switch. Am I likely to experience abnormal data transfer on the
network in future?
