You also get a V-E chassis which has the modules vertically, and a cable manager fanning the cables out.

We use cable management bars and route all cables to the left and right thus ensuring that we don't have cables blocking the removal of a failed module or a module that needs swapping out for upgrade. Would recommend wider racks for such locations . You have more space to each side and often containment channels

I've run cables in from both sides. You can get cable management bars that rack mount on top of the 6500 chassis rack ears. These are literally a steel bar with 2 radiused 90* bends, the ends of which are welded to "rack ears". Mounting these in front of the line cards, you can then use velcro to secure the cables on their way to the line card ports.
