The rumour is that IOS XR 5 will introduce "speed" in
upgrading CRS and ASR9000 platforms. Just how much time we
can shave off an update/upgrade is yet to be seen.
Frankly, considering how large the Juniper MX- and T-series
routers are, upgrading those systems is far less painfull
than doing so on an IOS XR-based platform. Far less
painfull.
It feels wrong that someone at Cisco isn't losing sleep over
this.
