Cisco doesn't do any testing with RANCID and summarily rejects any reports related to this problem, requiring you to either report it to the RANCID maintainers to pray that Cisco will accept it as a bug/problem.

They don't have a standard location to store any of these datafiles and move them around without understanding of the impact.

I encourage you to include this in your RFPs in the future to bring this matter to their attention.
