Thanks all for your useful answers. I can see clearer now on the possibilities we have here.
Actually the exact goal of my request was to split one QSFP+ into 4 monomode SFP+ & connect 2 different remote equipments on the other end.
This is a weird application, coming from a request of a customer using HP 5900 with 48*10G Base T + 4QSFP+ only & willing to connect a remote site with SFP+ equipments only. In this case indeed a CVR-QSFP-SFP10G QSFP to SFP+ converter may be enough, but I am note sure I can use it with an HPN equipment...
Thank you again for your great help !
Best regards
Gilles.

For single mode you would need an alternative supplier for the qsfp who do something similar for lr - like the plr4 from arista - but no idea if it works on a cisco, Sent from a mobile device > On 19 Jun 2014, at 3:17, Peter Persson wrote: > > What i think Gilles is looking for, is a way to buy active wavelengths on > 10gigabit instead of 40gigabit? > > I dont use QSFPs in my net, so i dont know the answer, but i think thats > the question from the begging? > > Regards, > Peter > > > 2014-06-18 18:27 GMT+02:00 David Paul Zimmerman > : > >> This may be a weird tangent to your question, but if you're running on a >> Nexus 6004 (maybe other platforms too, but definitely the 6004) and don't >> mind wasting a whole 40GE QSFP port to service a 10GE drop (say you're way >> overprovisioned on 40GE capacity and can do that), you should check out >> Cisco's CVR-QSFP-SFP10G QSFP to SFP+ converter. >> >> dp >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: cisco-nsp [mailto:cisco-nsp-bounces at puck.nether.net] On Behalf Of >> Gilles Fabre >> Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2014 4:38 AM >> To: cisco-nsp at puck.nether.net >> Subject: [c-nsp] 40G QSFP to 4*10G SFP+ Breakout Optical Cable >> >> Hi all >> >> I have been searching for 40G to 4*10G cables (not DAC/Twinax but optical >> ones). >> Did you ever use such cables ? is it reliable ? >> I did not find any monomode ones, I guess this is not existing... any >> idea why (strength of signal ?) ? >> >> Thanks & best regards >> Gilles >> >> >> ___________________________________________________________ >> Mode, hifi, maison,… J'achète malin.
