Mark, I think you mentioned in some of those threads that this is
supported only in the global routing table, but not in a VRF,
is this correct or did I misinterpret?

I do see the command in an ipv4 vrf address family on a ASR1k:
PE-8(config-router)#address-family ipv4 vrf CUSTOMER_BLUE
PE-8(config-router-af)#table-map ?
  WORD  route-map name

PE-8(config-router-af)#table-map ASD ?
  filter  Selective route download
  <cr>
