My experience with nexus 5k range is that management SVI are fine, but they don't do any routing. Or you can use the dedicated management port, which is in its own vrf.

I haven't tried this on 9300 platform, but it should be the same.

Thanks Andrew - Re L3 on the Nexus...Even if I only need a single vlan Int for management, Ill need an additional license? (Thats the only L3 we currently do on the 4500X's)
