these symptoms sound like electronic dispersion compensation problems.  Are
you using mode conditioning patches at each end of the link?

You would be better off biting the bullet and installing single-mode
cabling plant for 10G infrastructure if you're going outside the range of
standard 10G-SR.  MMF is pure pain for longer runs.
